This is the date-by-date guide to what happens in Egypt between November 2026 and February 2027, and to which date fits what you want to see. All of our trips are private and on your dates.

How to read this calendar

Every date carries a label and a source. If a date is only expected, do not buy flights for it until it becomes confirmed.

All of our trips are private and on your dates: there are no fixed-date trips. International flights and entry tickets are not included unless we say so. Confirmed = announced by the organiser or the authority. Expected = it repeats other years and has no official notice yet.

If you are coming from Mexico or Spain

November

The Grand Egyptian Museum turns one and changes its fares. The weather and the plan for the month are in Egypt in November.

Grand Egyptian Museum: new fares and a night show

What it is: The largest museum in the world devoted to one civilisation launches Eternal Sun, a 35-minute evening show of light and music.

How we travel it: A private day in Giza with a licensed Egyptologist. Tickets and the show are booked on the official site.

  • Confirmed Cairo International Film Festival, 11 to 20 November, based at the Cairo Opera House. Only if you are already in the city: check tickets on the festival site.

December

The month of the holidays and the school breaks. What to expect from the weather and the ships is in Egypt in December, and the river option is in Nile river cruise.

Winter solstice at Karnak

Expected Monday 21 December 2026Source: Jerusalem Post and Africanews (2024 and 2025). Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: The solstice sunrise at Karnak, which Luxor authorities celebrated in 2024 and 2025. There is no notice for 2026 yet.

How we travel it: A private stay in Luxor that includes that morning. We do not promise special access to the site.

Christmas and New Year in Egypt

Confirmed 24, 25 and 31 December 2026Source: official calendar and hotel and ship programmes. Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: The holidays are lived mostly in hotels and on ships. We have not confirmed a public event in Cairo or Giza.

How we travel it: A private mix of Cairo, Luxor and Aswan, with a ship or a dahabiya if it fits your dates.

January

Cool mornings and clear skies. The detail of the month is in Egypt in January.

Coptic Christmas

Confirmed Thursday 7 January 2027 (Christmas Eve Mass the evening of the 6th)Source: Egypt holiday calendar. Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: The Coptic Church celebrates Christmas on 7 January, and it is a national holiday in Egypt.

How we travel it: A private day through Coptic and Islamic Cairo. We do not promise a seat at the Mass.

Egyptian Marathon in Luxor

Confirmed Friday 8 January 2027, 07:00Source: the organiser (Egyptian Marathon) and Hopasports. Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: The 34th edition. All four races (5 km, 12 km, 21 km and the marathon) start at 07:00 at the Temple of Hatshepsut on the west bank.

How we travel it: A private stay of two or three nights in Luxor for runners and companions. Entry is only through the organiser, closes on 1 January 2027 or earlier if full, and we do not register you.

February

Clean light over the temples and, this year, Ramadan in the second half of the month. More in Egypt in February.

Ramadan

Expected From about Monday 8 February 2027Source: astronomical calculations; confirmed after the moon sighting. Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: The fasting month changes the pace of the country. Opening hours for sites have not been announced yet.

How we travel it: A private itinerary adapted to Ramadan, with morning visits and iftar dinners if you want them.

Abu Simbel Sun Festival

Expected Monday 22 February 2027Source: annual date rule (22 February and 22 October). Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: Dawn light reaches the sanctuary of the temple of Ramesses II. The Ministry has not published a 2027 notice yet.

How we travel it: A private base in Aswan, with the Abu Simbel excursion on that day. The time and the entry price are announced a few days before.

Summer 2027

One event outside winter, because it is booked far ahead and people already search for it today.

Total solar eclipse of 2 August 2027

Confirmed Monday 2 August 2027Source: NASA and astronomical calculation. Reviewed 31 Oct 2026.

What it is: Totality reaches Luxor at 13:02 local time and lasts 6 minutes 22 seconds.

How we travel it: Two private programs in Luxor, of 3 and 4 nights, with a licensed Egyptologist.

How booking works and what happens if plans change

These are the conditions for all of our trips. You book on WhatsApp, and the proposal reaches you in writing before you pay anything.

Deposit

A fixed deposit per booking, in US dollars or euros, holds your place. The amount depends on the program and your proposal shows it before you pay anything.

How you pay the deposit

By bank transfer or Western Union.

The balance

You pay the rest when you arrive in Egypt, in cash or by withdrawing cash with a Visa card.

Changes and cancellation

You can change the date at no cost up to two months before departure. If you cancel within that window, half of the deposit is refunded.

If your trip starts in less than two months, that window no longer exists: the conditions are in your proposal. This website takes no payment. We reply on WhatsApp as soon as possible from Cairo, which in winter is 8 hours ahead of Mexico City.

Frequently asked questions

Are these fixed-date trips?
No. All of our trips are private and on your dates. The dates in this calendar are the dates of each event, not of a trip we have built in advance.
Are flights included?
No. We do not sell or coordinate international flights: you buy yours and send us the itinerary.
Are the dates confirmed?
It depends on the label. Confirmed ones were announced by the organiser or the authority. Expected ones repeat every year and have no official notice yet, so do not buy flights for them until the label changes.
Can I run the Luxor Marathon with you?
Entry is only through the organiser. We can build a private trip around the date, but we do not register you for the race.
How is this different from the month pages?
This page puts what happens in date order. The month pages cover the weather, what to pack and what that month feels like. Each card links to the guide for its topic.
Who answers on WhatsApp?
The team in Cairo. We do not promise a reply time: we answer as soon as possible.
